Putin, Zelenskyy congratulates Erdogan

RUSSIAN President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are among the notable world leaders who congratulated Erdogan on winning a third term in office, with the former calling Erdogan a dear friend.

Putin first congratulated Erdogan on Sunday, thanking the Turkish president for his personal contribution to strengthening relations between Moscow and Ankara.

“Dear friend, your victory in the elections was a natural result of your selfless work as head of the Republic of Türkiye, and is clear evidence of the Turkish people’s support for your efforts to strengthen state sovereignty and pursue an independent foreign policy.”

“We highly appreciate your personal contribution to the strengthening of friendly Russian-Turkish relations and mutually beneficial cooperation.”

“From the bottom of my heart I wish you new successes…as well as good health and well-being,” Pres. Vladimir Putin, Russian Federation.

Turkiye is the only NATO member country that has not imposed any sanctions on Russia after it launched its so-called special military operation in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy took to Twitter to congratulate Erdogan on his victory and expressed hope to strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkiye.

“I congratulate president of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his victory in presidential elections. We expect to further strengthen strategic partnership for the benefit of our countries and enhance cooperation for the security and stability of Europe,” said Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine.
