Israel’s missile-equipped warships ready for Iran
ISRAEL recently unveiled its newest fleet of powerful warships equipped with missiles amid an ongoing cold war with Iran.
The Sa’ar 6-class corvettes are designed to ensure the safety of maritime routes as well as protect Israel’s gas field and shipping lanes.
Three of the said warships have reportedly been operational since April.
The four corvette-class warships were ordered from Germany in 2015 and weigh over 2,000 tons, with a length of 295 feet and incomparable firepower.
Each ship is equipped with 20 systems, 18 of which are Israeli-made, including a modified version of the Iron Dome system, known as the C-Dome, as well as the LRAD missile systems which can shoot down cruise and ballistic missiles.
The warship also boasts of other electronic warfare systems such as Barak 1 and Barak 8 missiles capable of shooting down planes, helicopters, drones, and missiles up to 62 miles (100 kilometers) away and up to 10 miles above sea level.
The advancements in stealth technology in recent decades also make the warship appear smaller theraradardarr despite its huge size.
Israeli Defense Yoav Gallant last week accused Iran of converting civilian ships into military vessels armed with weapons such as drones, missiles, and intelligence-gathering capabilities.
The Jewish state also revealed that Iran was planning attacks against Israeli submarines using torpedo-armed drones.
The latest fleet of warships was announced amid brewing tensions with Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
